Georgia's two largest banks, TBC Bank and Bank of Georgia, both serve foreigners and non-residents, though checks have tightened since Georgia aligned its AML rules with FATF standards.

For a personal account, you'll need

  • A valid passport — the original, not a copy or an expired document.
  • A completed KYC form from the bank.
  • Proof of the source of your funds, such as 6–12 months of statements from your home bank.
  • A Georgian phone number/SIM card for SMS confirmations.

For a business account

You'll need company/IE registration documents and client contracts. Since March 2026, non-residents running a business also need a labour permit — see the article on registering an Individual Entrepreneur.

Costs

No minimum deposit is required — accounts can be opened with as little as 1 GEL — but expect an account-opening fee of roughly 20–50 GEL.

Tips

TBC Bank offers online non-resident pre-registration before your branch visit, which speeds things up. Branches experienced with foreign clients include Bank of Georgia's Pushkin Street branch and TBC's Marjanishvili branch, plus large mall branches (Galleria, East Point).
